AC/DC Frontman Performs SOLOMAN BURKE Classic, Appears In Sketches At U.K. Charity Event
April 1, 2006AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson performed the SOLOMAN BURKE classic "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" (a song popularized by THE BLUES BROTHERS in the movie of the same name) at the "Sunday For Sammy" charity event in Newcastle, England on February 26. Brian also appeared as an actor in sketches dressed up as an angel.
The Sammy Johnson Memorial Fund was established by Tim Healy and Jimmy Nail in memory of their friend and fellow actor Sammy Johnson, who died in 1998. The Fund's aim is to support performers from the Northeast at the outset of their careers. "Sunday for Sammy" featured a feast of music and comedy, including some specially written Auf Wiedersehen Pet sketches. Also appearing at the event were Tim Healy, Jimmy Nail, Kevin Whately, Denise Welch, Jill Halfpenny, Brendan Healy, Brian Johnson, Carol Malia, Peter Beardsley, Paul Gascoigne, Billy Mitchell and Peter Peverley.
